Pears with Apples

Some things seem unrelated. When you talk about them, people accuse you of mixing apples and oranges. But have you ever tried it? We have. We realized that apples and oranges are an integral part of our landscape, and the avenues lined with them along the roads are part of what we call home. Originally, Maria Theresa had them planted there so that the marching army would have something to eat. Today, however, most of the fruit falls to the ground unused, where it feeds bees and wasps. We walked around a few of these avenues, picked the pears and apples, crushed them, pressed them, let them ferment, distilled them, and stored them in oak barrels. Cheers!
