Nitro Washed Geisha, Guatemala

Refreshing, light and fruity. Geisha is one of the most valuable varieties and we therefore chose it in Guatemala. It comes from the Finca Gascón farm, which is managed by a progressive young farmer named Felipe Contreras. The coffee trees here grow in the shade of larger trees and the whole farm is operated on an organic basis. Felipe was our guide during our visit, showing us around the farm and demonstrating everything involved in production, and he also became a good friend of ours.

The beans are lightly roasted, for brewing filtered coffee.
Baristas from Ambiente selected this coffee in Guatemala.

Nitro Washed Geisha, Guatemala

Why Guatemala?
Together with a team from the roaster Nordbeans, we – baristas from Ambiente – travelled to Guatemala with the aim of learning about the origin of our coffee and establishing personal relationships with its producers. While visiting the farms, we observed the entire process of cultivation and processing, learned a lot and tasted the first samples of coffees during the harvest. We thus selected exceptional lots with a specific story and origin.

The selection includes five coffees with different flavour profiles to delight the broadest possible range of select coffee lovers. Each of them comes with a cloth bag featuring a motif designed and drawn by Guatemalan artist Markos Fischer to specifically match the concept and the given coffee. All of the motifs are inspired by the charm of Guatemala.

For Nitro Washed Geisha coffee, we chose the motif of the San Juan Gascón Valley, which contains a magical place called Finca Gascón – coffee trees grow wild everywhere in harmony with a diverse range of other trees, animals and people.
