Why Guatemala?
Together with a team from the roaster Nordbeans, we – baristas from Ambiente – travelled to Guatemala with the aim of learning about the origin of our coffee and establishing personal relationships with its producers. While visiting the farms, we observed the entire process of cultivation and processing, learned a lot and tasted the first samples of coffees during the harvest. We thus selected exceptional lots with a specific story and origin.
The selection includes five coffees with different flavour profiles to delight the broadest possible range of select coffee lovers. Each of them comes with a cloth bag featuring a motif designed and drawn by Guatemalan artist Markos Fischer to specifically match the concept and the given coffee. All of the motifs are inspired by the charm of Guatemala.
For Washed Caturra & Catuaí coffee, we chose a character called Ruk'ux' Ya', which appears under the stars and shines like hot coals in a fire. Ruk'ux' Ya' is guardian of the night, protecting the coffee grove when no one is watching.
